Gastroenterology is a branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, study and treatment of diseases of the abdominal organs in humans. Diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, which includes the organs from the mouth to the anus along the alimentary canal, are the focus of this specialty.
